Begin and Start

Explanation: We use both begin and start in the same meaning. They mean the same in sentence but uses are restricted.

Begin तथा Start दोनों का इस्तेमाल हम “सुरूआत” को दर्शाने के लिए किया जाता है। दोनों का अर्थ भी सामान होता है लेकिन वाक्य में इसके इस्तेमाल में कछ नियम है।

Example

I began/started driving when I was 14.

If Robin doesn't come soon, let's begin/start without him.

 

Competitive Note #1. We generally prefer to use “begin” when we are using a more formal style in sentence.

जब हम वाक्य में अधिक औपचारिक शैली का उपयोग कर रहे होते हैं तो हम आम तौर पर “begin” का उपयोग करना पसंद करते हैं।

Damn! It's starting to snow.

 

Cases where “Begin” is not possible

 

Competitive Note #2. Start (but not begin) is used to mean:

Start (but not begin) का अर्थ होता है:

 

a. 'start a journey' यात्रा का प्रारंभ करना।                  

I think I ought to start at 8, while the roads are empty.

 

b. 'start working' (for machines) काम करना सुरु करना।

The machine won't start.

 

c. 'make something start' किसी चीज़ को सुरु करना।

How do you start the digging machine?

The Principal’s assistant fired the gun to start the race.
